Toys mean a lot to people. In their first few years, they're one of the main venues for interaction with friends and family. As they grow up, they're often a reward used to teach the value of virtue, hard work and courage.

Good toys are an open slate for imaginative play. A good toy should be able to step into the role of hero, villain, ruler, trickster, explorer or outlaw, letting users create for themselves a character that they'll remember years later.
