The story so far

Holistic design

Megawillbot originated as a stop-motion channel I started at 8, where I’d mess around with bringing my toys to life, exploring their character and story. From that, I developed a taste for toys that were expressive while still being fun to operate. Around that age I developed many idiosyncrasies about toy design as well.

Early adoption

I realised the potential of 3D printing in toy production very early on. At 14, I began designing upgrade sets for my existing toys, but within a year I was working on ambitious standalone projects. There weren’t many guides on how to make them, so I had to solve design problems from scratch. Out of desire for quality, I quickly adopted ABS filament as my primary material due to its durability.

Early hits

The Pumpkin Spider was a big hit- although the early quality was a bit finicky due to my amateur status, the early 3D printing community consisted entirely of problem solvers, so it ended up quickly amassing hundreds of thousands of downloads! Part of its success was due to its self-sincere design, where it wasn’t forced to look childish, resulting in a toy that appealed to both kids and their parents. Because authenticity is important, I’ve kept the original brand name, even if it seems a little clunky- the world is cluttered with inauthentic stores with grandiose brand names (You might notice many stores with names sounding like “3D Design Imagination Workshop” which do not, in fact, design or workshop anything they sell)

experience in the field.

3 years ago, I began selling my products in person- this let me develop a real connection with my audience, and helped me achieve insights that couldn’t be discovered any other way. I’ve been able to develop new products with live feedback from my customers, and I’m excited to reveal them officially soon!
